CYCJ – Shifts in Secure: results from the 2025 secure care census

This webinar will focus of the findings from the 2025 secure care census, and examine what changes have occurred within the secure estate since the first census was undertaken in 2018, and over the past decades. Content examined in this webinar include the life experiences of children prior to entering secure care, the nature of concerns surrounding this cohort, and the profile of those entering the space. Attendees should therefore be aware that discussion of sensitive topics will take place.

Bio:

After qualifying as a Social Worker from the University of Strathclyde in 2009 Ross worked within a Youth Justice area team in Glasgow before moving to CYCJ 2017. His work here focuses on project managing the Whole System Approach Implementation Group, implementation of the Children (Care and Justice) Act and progressing use of Diversion from Prosecution. Other areas of work include delivery of START-AV and CARM, and helping CYCJ and partners to achieve the ambitions set out in The Promise. Ross is undertaking a part-time PhD at the University of Strathclyde, looking at the life experiences of children who are placed within secure care.
