Webinar – Key messages for those with safeguarding/child protection responsibilities, including use of prevention resources in suspected cases

This session will provide key information for professionals with safeguarding and child protection responsibilities, focusing on the prevention of child sexual abuse and the role of early intervention. Drawing on the expertise of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, speakers Stuart Allardyce and Stewart Stobie will explore how prevention-focused resources and support can be used in situations where there are concerns or suspicions about harmful sexual behaviour.

Participants will gain an understanding of available prevention pathways, the importance of professional curiosity, and how safeguarding practitioners can respond effectively to protect children and young people while supporting families and reducing risk.

• Recognise the importance of prevention and early intervention in safeguarding and child protection practice.
• Identify indicators that may warrant concern and know when prevention-focused resources may be appropriate.
• Understand how to use prevention resources and referral pathways in suspected cases of harmful sexual behaviour.
• Reflect on their own safeguarding responsibilities and the role of multi-agency collaboration in managing risk and protecting children.
• Increase confidence in having difficult conversations with individuals and families where there are concerns about child safety.
