Welcome to our latest news update from the Aberdeenshire Child Protection Committee. In this edition, we’re sharing what’s coming up, including key developments, learning opportunities, and important areas of focus across our services to support and strengthen child protection practice.
At Aberdeenshire Child Protection Committee (CPC), we remain committed to ensuring that our learning and development offer reflects the needs of practitioners across all sectors. Over the past year, we have listened carefully to the views, experiences and feedback shared through training evaluations, forums, learning reviews, surveys and engagement events.
Following extensive engagement with multi-agency practitioners we look forward to launching the Aberdeenshire Child Protection Committee Improvement Plan 2026–2029. The new plan has been developed with a clear commitment to listening to and learning from those working directly with children, young people and families.
Listening to practitioners continues to be central to our approach.

We did: Continued to develop a blend of online, face-to-face and e-learning options to support accessibility across Aberdeenshire.

Action for Children, recognised for its expertise in the Criminal Exploitation of Children (CEC) – will share national and local learning to support our developing response. In partnership with Aberdeenshire, they will also outline the development of a new service to support Children and Young People who are at risk of, or experiencing, criminal exploitation.

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation, recognised for its expertise in Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE), including online harm, will share insight into this important area of work. In partnership with Aberdeenshire, they will outline a programme of training designed to strengthen our shared approach and build practitioner confidence in identifying, preventing and responding to harm.

Adam Elliott will share powerful insights from his lived experience of criminal exploitation and reflect on the work taking place across Aberdeenshire academies. This will include key achievements, learning from engagement with Young People, and what comes next.
Our learning and development programme is constantly evolving. Every evaluation form completed, every forum discussion attended and every conversation held helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve.
We encourage practitioners to continue sharing:
💡 Topics you would like covered
💡 Emerging practice issues
💡 Suggestions for future training
💡 Examples of learning that has made a difference to your practice
Together, we can ensure our learning offer remains relevant, impactful and responsive to the needs of Aberdeenshire’s workforce.
There are lots of exciting developments planned over the coming year, including new training opportunities, e-learning developments and additional practice-sharing events.
